Tuscaloosa Endoscopy Center (TEC) is an ambulatory endoscopy center on-site at GastroCare, P.C. Tuscaloosa Endoscopy Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and is a Medicare approved ambulatory surgery and endoscopy center. 

Tuscaloosa Endoscopy Center offers a variety of gastrointestinal procedures including the following:

• Colonoscopy
• Upper Endoscopy (EGD)
• Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Patients of GastroCare, P.C. will be scheduled at Tuscaloosa Endoscopy Center, unless they request another facility or unless they meet one of the following criteria: 

• Their insurance does not include coverage for Tuscaloosa Endoscopy Center. 
• Based on their medical condition, our physicians and practitioners determine that they should have their procedure done in a hospital setting. Some examples of underlying conditions that would limit their ability to have a procedure done at Tuscaloosa Endoscopy Center include: 
  • A body mass index (BMI) of 50 or greater. 
  • Use of a defibrillator.
  • Chronic kidney disease requiring dialysis. 
  • There may be other medical conditions not listed here that would require the patient have their procedure done elsewhere. The patient's physician will make that judgement with their best interest in mind.

In the event a patient cannot be scheduled at Tuscaloosa Endoscopy Center, they will be scheduled at DCH Northport Medical Center.
